ISOTEST 4S is indispensable in the area of passive corrosion protection. Non-destructive high-voltage testing of the most diverse coatings and anti-corrosive materials has proved itself again and again over long periods of time. The test is stipulated by many works’ specifications and standards. Within quality control it has made a successful contribution to optimisation of product longevity despite stressful conditions and avoidance of breakdowns and related incurred repair costs. Coating thickness up to several millimetres can be tested for pores, cracks or scarcely discernible transportation damage by means of extremely short high-voltage pulses.

The short residence time of pulses, which treats the material gently, enables the testing using power reserves, which provide the stability of the selected test voltage even on damp or dirty surfaces!Defective areas can be clearly identified whether on externally or internally coated pipes, rubber coated containers, plastic seams, fully coated fittings or machine components... wherever non-conductive coatings are overlaid on conductive materials (e.g. metal, wet concrete) or where non-conductive coatings have an underlay of conductive materials (e.g. plastic seams in tubing or containers).
 

Typical Applications

Pipeline Construction
This is the best-known field of application for the  „slogger”of high-voltage testing. By means of spring electrodes (or semicircular brushes) the complete pipe can be checked in 1 – 2 operations. The current versions ISOTEST 4S and ISOTEST inspect 35 have enough power even for large pipe diameters (PDF) and for testing damp pipes.

Industrial facilities
The industrial pipeline network is highly strained, particularly the surface pipelines. Modern, non-porous coatings reduce the risk of corrosion and damage.

Fittings
Special test electrodes (like „paint brushes” ) enable the testing even of complex, irregular shapes. The versions ISOTEST inspect 4.0 and ISOTEST inspect 8.0 are developed particularly for thin film coatings.

Construction of tanks and containers
With the aid of the new optical fibre technology ISOTEST inspect 35 was equipped with extra long high-voltage cable to meet the special requirements within the construction of tanks and containers. As test electrodes rubber, brass or stainless steel flat brushes are recommended.

Tubes
Nothing more than a thin pipe! But substantially more flexible and thus equally exposed to danger incurred by the passage of dangerous fluids. The high-voltage inspection of the inner protection coat provides safety.

Batteries, plastic container
Less known, but very effective. Testing weld seams of large and small plastic containers e.g. battery housing on density. How? We are ready to consult you.

Other Applications
Everywhere where there is a combination of electric conductive materials (metals, acids, concrete partially damp, damp ground...) and non-conductive materials (plastic housing, foils and coating materials, glass...) the non-conductive material can be tested whether it is non-porous or dense.
